Simon Durbridge

Audio Signal Processing Consultant

Researching Music Technology, Interactive Media, Spatial Audio

I am a specialist signal processing consultant working in the music technology and audio industries. I have worked on a range of products from embedded systems to desktop and mobile applications. My speciality is in the programming of embedded digital signal processors including the Analog Devices SHARC+ DSPs. I am also interested in technical development and sound design for video games and interactive media.

The most successful product I have worked on so far is the Neural DSP Quad Cortex, a SHARC+ based modeller and multi-FX system. I have also worked on the Formation series of loudspeakers for Bowers & Wilkins.

I am finishing my PhD research at the University of York, where I studied the use of physiological sensing and binaural rendering in the context of lab-based soundscape evaluation.

I am interested in working with audio and interactive technologies, marrying signal processing techniques and transducers to make cool and interesting new stuff.

If you are interested in my research, cool circuits and signal changing mechanisms, or hiring me as a consultant, please get in touch!
